We envisioned this house as a retreat—a place for contemplating nature and spending time outdoors, far from the hustle and bustle of city life. The dwelling consists of two compact modules connected by a partially covered outdoor space, effectively blurring the boundary between the indoors and the outdoors.
The main module houses a small living room with a wood-burning stove, alongside a kitchen. The space opens up to the covered terrace through a southwest-facing window overlooking the valley, while to the west, it is flanked by the tranquility of the forest. A tatami mat area serves as an ideal spot for reading by the fire, dining, or simply relaxing. Suspended above this area is a lofted bed offering views of the surrounding woods. Tucked behind the living room is a narrow bathroom that can open entirely to the garden nestled between the two modules, seamlessly integrating nature into the daily routine.
The second, more intimate module contains a small home office—a workspace designed for two people. Behind the office sits a sauna and a compact changing room, both connected to the central garden. This layout encourages movement through the outdoor space, creating a natural flow between the sauna, the garden, and the shower. Above the sauna, there is a two-person loft bed featuring a window that perfectly frames the mountain views.
With a footprint of just 55 square meters, the house is modest in size yet rich in experiences. Lighting the fire on a crisp evening, working in a tranquil setting, admiring the sunrise through the trees, taking a refreshing outdoor shower, reading by the stove, or simply relaxing on the terrace during a summer storm—all of these moments contribute to an atmosphere that invites you to slow down your pace and truly reconnect with nature.
